This is a versatile (two secondary windings), 12 (12.6) volt, 4.6 amp transformer (13 volt no load voltage with 120V 60Hz input). With its large dual bobbin construction and thick, 18 gauge secondary wire, you can easily rewind it for custom voltages! See rewinding data below. They make excellent 12 volt filament transformers for vacuum tube electronic projects, such as radios, transmitters, transceivers, preamplifiers, amplifiers, etc., and can be rewound to make 6 volt filament transformers, or other voltages. Transformer has two secondary windings (inner and outer winding), connected in parallel for 12 volt output. You can unsolder and reconnect the leads in series ( with no rewinding ), to easily make a 24 volt output. Removing half of the outer winding (23 turns), will give you a dual 6 volt /12 volt transformer. The core laminations do not come apart, you have to thread the wire through the core. With the heavy gauge wire, this is easy to do in our opinion, but relative to your experience. Transformer is rated for 55 watts, yielding a 4.6 amp output at 12 volts. Use the 55 watts rating as a calculation for other voltage and current outputs (V x A = W, volts times amps equals watts), with a 3 amp maximum current per winding . No load output voltage with 120VAC input is a nominal 13 volts. Rewinding data: Transformer windings are 46 turns. Each turn removed, reduces the voltage by approximately 0.29 volts. Removing 23 turns (half), reduces the voltage by approximately 50 percent (half). Nominal size: 3.0 x 2.5 x 2.0 (L x W x H). Two inch height is dimension of plastic former, primary connectors extend approximately another 0.1 inch beyond this. Mounting hole diameter 0.19" Weight approx. 2 pounds 3 ounces. May have surface rust on iron laminations which is normal . Primary has thermal overload protector.
